The 360 stands for three-hundred and sixty degrees of real-time gaming.
The ARgame from Acrossair will be released on the iPhone app store when the 3.1 OS comes out. I can’t say how fun the game is since we can only see the video for now, but the game could be a nice time killer when you’re waiting for a bus. Then again, sometimes these simple games can be horribly addictive as various tower defense games have proved over the years. Â
For now we’ll have to wait since its another month or two until the OS 3.1 will be released, but I’ll be sure to try it when it comes out.Â
Just finished writing tomorrow’s linkfest and obviously it’s in the list. However, it doesn’t really look like augmented reality, is it? Maybe they are using the compass reading, but those viri look like they are just floating around.
Interesting observation and one I hadn’t thought of. They are graphics superimposed on real-time video, but they’re tethered to nothing real other than a coordinate system.
If you hold the camera up to a wall, with no space between, will they still be floating around? The illusion would be forfeit then.
Anyway, the success or failure of it won’t be with it being AR or not, but it being fun. So who knows?
