Today marks 1 year since we packed up our house (well 1/3 of it, since we were massively downsizing) in Missouri and moved to Colorado to give this full time writing thing a go. As with most of time, some days it’s difficult to believe it has been a year, and at other times we’ve done so much that it’s hard to believe it has ONLY been a year. Either way it has been a dream come true.

Sunset in our neighborhood

Since only having 1 job, I’ve been able to go skiing or hiking every week, and I was joking with my wife that I am the tannest I’ve been since college. 30 years ago when I first met my wife I remember long talks late into the night about how I wanted to be a writer. It certainly took longer than I had imagined, and was filled with joys I never expected (like 2 amazing children), but we’re finally here.

Since we have moved to Colorado I have written 9 books, 4 short stories, published a weekly Amazon Vella episode (all totaling about 900,000 words), redone 2 websites, created our own online bookstore, launched a very successful Kickstarter project with another launching next month, started creating hardback and Audiobook versions of the Hundred Halls books, and made my books available on all retailers. Needless to say it has been a busy year, but I have enjoyed every bit of it.

How I recharge now (a hike at Cottonwood Pass)

None of this would be possible without the support and encouragement I get from readers. I am truly honored and grateful that so many of you want to read my stories. Books have brought me such relief and enjoyment throughout my life, and I am thrilled that I can help give some of that back. Whether you are new to the Hundred Halls, or have been a fan since the beginning, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I’m so happy to be on this journey with you all.
