I’m positive my boss won’t let me have one, but it sure would be nice.

What I’m speaking of is the Anybot telepresence robot from Anybots.  Linking up with your robot from any location in the world (with a connection of course) allows you to “be” in the location without having to change out of your pajamas.  No dialing in to meetings or having to track someone down on their cellphone.   Instead, you can pester them live and in pseudo-person, or robotic avatar in this case.

Heck, I might even use a telepresence robot while I’m at work.  Often I get double and triple booked at meetings.  I could use the Anybot to split my awareness.  But then again, honestly, who would want to torture themselves with that kind of pain.  Really I’d just park the Anybot in the required meeting and keep tabs on what’s going on while I actually do something.

Think about it.  We could be  doing  actual work while our telepresence stand-in minded the space our physical body was once previously required to be in!   So sad that I’m certain my boss wouldn’t let me have one.  Even if I paid for it.

Still, maybe I could have one at home.  I’m sure my wife wouldn’t mind if I had Robbie the Robot take my place at the dinner table while I got some writing done?   No really, she wouldn’t mind at all.
