<p>An <a title="AR Flying Car" href="http://thomaskcarpenter.com/2009/09/04/the-ar-flying-car/" target="_blank">augmented reality flying car </a>this game is not. </p>
<p>While this AR game made by Total Immersion at the Arizona Center isn&#8217;t layered with complexity, it really couldn&#8217;t be done any other way.  While you could use a controller or mouse to move the boxes around, allowing for natural movement with a square of cardboard makes the game more intuitive.  And the video boxes couldn&#8217;t done except within a digital medium.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/M7wFQuXRCo4&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/M7wFQuXRCo4&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1&amp;" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Currently, most of the AR games being created are recreations of standard ideas &#8211; shooters, real-time strategy, zombies, etc.  Augmented reality is a completely new medium that allows for a rethinking of game mechanics.  If you&#8217;re a game designer, don&#8217;t get stuck in the past, show us something audacious and we&#8217;ll shower you in our hard earned cash.</p>
